Get outside while you still can! Spring is here and April is a popular month for events in Saint Louis. Plenty of cool things to choose from. You will regret not going to these events when you are hiding out in your air-conditioned homes and offices in August.
10 Things To Do in St. Louis This April
Fiddler on the Roof
The acclaimed production Fiddler on the Roof will be performed April 3-April 8. The production will be performed at the newly restored Peabody Opera House . The show will include the original Broadway direction and choreography and the actor John Preece, who has been in the play more than 3000 times.
Blues Playoff Games
The St. Louis Blues were the first team to clinch a playoff spot in the NHL. Tickets go on sale April 4 and games start a week later. Sign up to be notified about dates and pricing.
Cardinals Games
The St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series last year and have had some major changes in the off-season including the loss of manager Tony La Russa and future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols. Will the Cardinals continue to be a top team in the league? Find out at their home opener against the Chicago Cubs on April 13 or any of the month’s home matchups against the Cubs, Reds, or Brewers.
Missouri Tartan Day
Missouri Tartan Day is held in St. Charles, Missouri at Frontier Park. You can enjoy Scottish music, dancing, jewelry and foods. There will be a parade and of course a calling of the clans. Best of all, this event is free! Come down to St. Charles April 13-April 15 to join the festivities.
Go! St. Louis
Go! St. Louis is a marathon and family fitness fest all rolled into one. The event also has a half marathon, marathon relay, 5K run/walk, children’s fun runs and a mature mile. The Health & Fitness Expo will be held at Chaifetz Arena April 13-April 14, Family Fitness Events will be held in Forest Park (this includes the 5K, fun runs, and mature mile) on April 14, and the mile/half mile/relay events will be held downtown at Soldier’s Memorial on April 15.
Titanic Centennial Weekend
The RMS Titanic sank 100 years ago. To honor the event St. Louis is having a film showing, reception, a reproduction of the last dinner, and a Titanic champagne brunch. Prokofiev’s Scythian Suite
The St. Louis Symphony has been going all out with their promos for Prokofiev’s Scythian Suite . If you want to see an engaging show by the symphony before the end of their amazing season, you have to stop by Powell Hall to see this one April 14-April 15.
St. Louis Earth Day
The St. Louis Earth Day Festival is the oldest and largest Earth Day Festival in the Midwest. April 22 head down to Forest Park near the Muny for the 23rd Annual Earth Day Festival . Enjoy live music, performers, green craft projects, snacks, and learning how to be good to the Earth. This is a great way to enjoy lots of fun for free.
Dining Out for Life
Here’s your chance to do a good deed. Just eat out at select restaurants on Thursday, April 26th and help benefit the programs and services of Saint Louis Effort for AIDS. At least 25% of your check will be donated as part of theDining Out for Life program. More than 100 area restaurants are participating so try tapas, barbecue, pasta, pancakes, sushi, mac & cheese, or whatever you’re hungry for. Atomic Cowboy has stepped up and agreed to donate 100% of your check to the Saint Louis Effort for AIDS so if you’re looking for burritos or spicy food you can know you’re doing a good deed just by eating.
Swan Lake
Tchaikovsky’s classic Swan Lake is being performed at the Touhill Performing Arts Center by the Saint Louis Ballet. April 27-April 29 you can see the ballet that Black Swan was based on.
